I’m in the process of setting up my DS7000 Security System.  I’ve read all the posts/reviews.

The only real test is how it performs in preventing a break-in or loss.  So the question is: How many of you have had a verifiable event that the DS7000 stopped - or failed to stop?

I’m talking about “I came home, my back door was kicked in, the alarm had gone off, but nothing was missing”.  Or, “I came home, my window was broken out, two TVs and my laptop were stolen, and the alarm was still armed but not tripped”.

Any stories?

Read enough post or do some serious searching and you will find atleast afew where the system indeed worked and prevented thief. I hope mine is never really needed but I can assure you that there is no way to gain entry to my house ,shop or storage building without setting it off, well perhaps thru the roof or a wall but then the motion sensors would trigger it. I have tested it many times and 15 seconds after a trip I have a call on my cell phone.

Over the past 35 years my car alarms have prevented anything being stolen many times.

No alarm can prevent entry but most crooks prefer not to have attation drawn to them.

I sould stae that any alarm system can be disabled and or bypassed but luckly most of the crooks with high tech equipment do not bother with small potatoes.

I do not drive a $85,000 auto and I do not live in a $300,000 plus house.
I only have to be concerned with low life ,dumb crooks not the "mission impossible " class ones.

This forum is littered with such great "the robbery was foiled" stories. I think you might even find a YouTube video or two as well as some print media stories if you search the interweb.

Alarms do often scare away the intruder(s). That's the good news! The bad news is just how much it actually costs to have that busted door [that was kicked open] replaced... and the jam and walls repaired. No.. wait. The bad news is: An alarm won't actually prevent a break-in. If all goes well the intruder is scared away... and you are alerted. Then you wait for the police, call your insurance company, and contractors. Fill out paperwork and so on. And you get to count yourself lucky... cause at least no one was hurt... and you get to keep most if not all of your stuff.

DO alarm your home... it only makes sense. But don't JUST install an alarm. I started a thread some time ago called: Keep them outside - better than a yard sign. My idea was/is.. why wait for the intruder to actually intrude. Why not warn away intruders BEFORE they kick open the door.

Yes I have an alarm and wouldn't be without one. But I go a step or two farther... and attempt to deter an intrusion.
