How to test a Signlinc coupler?
« on: June 07, 2010, 09:47:07 PM »

Hi - I have the X10 coupler that plugs into a dryer socket.  I suspect it may have gone bad, as a whole series of modules on one circuit that used to work very consistently suddenly stopped working at all. It's not intermittent - they stopped completely.  Short of buying a new coupler and comparing, is there some way to test the integrity of the signalinc coupler?

Thanks,
Michael

I don't know how to test a phase coupler... but it sorta sounds like a noise problem to me.

I have a IR remote controlled fan that had that very same effect on the circuit it's plugged into (even when the fan isn't running). I have it on a filter this year... last year I put it on an extention cord. Cell phone chargers have had the same effect here as well. Has anything been moved... or new item added?

If it is mostly on circuit. I would also reccommend looking for noise and signal suckers.
Anything new or moved in the home around the sametime the problems started?
See if running the electric dryer improves things as it also can act as a coupler.
