Greetings to all,
I'd like to add to this one. What I have:
AHP 3.236 (I know, but it's working for me on Vista x64 and no I don't use x10's video capture).
1-CM15A, 2-TM751, 4-RR501, 9-AM466, 2-LM15A, 4-cams, 3-pair sender/receiver, 1-Hauppauge 950Q TV to
USB device, 8-MS14A, 8-XPPF, 1-PSC05, and 1-partridge in the pear tree
Had all the growing pains of the typical newbie. DID NOT CLEAN UP MY POWERLINE ENVIRONMENT at first. Chose to buy
XCPR, V572, XTB-IIR. All implemented. Things weren't working unless I had the XCPR connected beneath the cooktop.
A 30' run back to the panel. XTB-IIR is connected to the water-heater j-box. An 8' run to the panel.
The high-end fix-er-up equipment did help quite a bit. However I felt it
necessary to get the XCPR offline as the XTB-IIR should have been more than enough (3/2 1300 sq ft). So, I wired Jeff
and got what I should have the first day! The XTBM. Yes, WOW^2 !!!
I'm slowly getting rid of the TM751's and RR501's since I really have the kick-butt V572 online. He's hearing ALL my MS14s
and remote signals without issue. More importantly and urgently, I'm replacing the 751's and 501's with AM466's.
I've recently concluded that, although the 501's play pretty nice in the PLC world I am getting a bunch of collisions on the
HC where I have 501's placed. I'm thinking timing is the issue here. RF signals are being picked up by the V572 and by the
501's, are then heard by the XCPR and XTB-IIR and all this junk is butting heads on the powerline. While important in
their places as the moment, I removed the XCPR, the 751's and 501's leaving only the V572 online with XTB-IIR and
ZERO collisions on those house codes! Left XCPR discon'd and starting plugging the 501's back in and the collision
problems started appearing again. Yes, the 501's are on both L1 and L2 (phases) of the panel. And I've got most noise
makers and signal suckers on XPPF's now. So, I guess PLC isn't quite like switched ethernet eh?
I've taken the RF send
commands out of ALL macros now and will likely leave them out. The CM15A is in my geek room w/ PC far away from panel.
Oh, I did finally uncheck all transceived HC's in AHP except for the single HC on which I listen to very remote MS14's.
Although the V572 appears to hear them 100%, they're are security related. The monitored HC is set to all other MS14's.
So, when the new AM466's arrive, I will be removing all 751's/501's. I'm seeing anywhere from x5.00 to x9.99
on all outlets/circuits; even out to the cameras mounted under the soffit (using zip wire; soon to be replaced by
14/2 romex). I did have to reprogram the LM15A's though after cleaning up this mess. For some reason they lost their
minds on the powerline. After reprogramming, it looks like I've got 100% RF and PLC control on every device.
It's a happy day!!!
Bottom line folks, as you've likely read over and over on this forum, clean up your powerline environment first.
Listen to the experts here. They really do have great knowledge, experience, wisdom...
Keep your installations simple. Know the devices and how they fit into the X10 world...makes troubleshooting so much
easier. Oh, for heaven's sake, DO map out your electrical system from the panel out to each outlet, light socket, appliance,
etc. You will eliminate the guess-work and so much frustration.
Thanks to the brilliant minds on this forum.
Thanks to the newbies asking questions that exposed countless amounts of valuable information.
Did I say it was a great day
