NightWatch Wireless Low-Light B/W Video Camera (XX20A)
« on: August 03, 2010, 07:57:46 AM »

Hello All

I was just wondering if anyone has purchased the NightWatch Wireless Low-Light B/W Video Camera (XX20A) in the past or just recently

I am thinking of buying them but I wanted to know

1. what your thoughts are on the camera
2. how well can you see at night.
3. how much light is required in the backround to see a clear picture.
4. Is a separate light source needed near the camera

If anyone could let me know it would be appreciated. any and all information with repects to your interaction with the cameras you have had will be helpful

Regards,
Kevin

I would just add that if you take the ad literally, in that you can "see at night", you will be disappointed.  Don't expect to see a picture without light.

If you consider that you're getting a small camera with wireless video transmitter and a remote-controlled power supply for about $30, you will be satisfied.

To get good low-light performance, I'd recommend an infrared-equipped camera by another manufacturer.  I have modified my X10 cameras with additional IR light sources, and removed the IR filter in the X10 camera lenses with much more low light performance, but the newer lenses don't lend themselves to the filters being removed, and it would void your warrantee.

Nybuck

Thanks for the info. I do have light on each side of my garage door. as well as the street light litterally across the street. this should be enough light. however I will keep your info in mind when I set it so I don't get a big disappointment. on the other hand thanks for the link. I took a look at it. impressive mod.

Thanks for sharing.
