Macro help needed for motion sensor
« on: January 23, 2011, 12:15:50 PM »

I am new to X10, Have the basic concepts down, now need to start really using the technology.  I have Active Home Pro, Appliance Modules and Eagle Eye Motion Sensor.
I am currently using a mini-timer to control the Appliance Mod in a landscape lighting transformer.  I would like to have the lighting transformer on from dusk til 10pm and then after that use the eagle eye motion sensor turn on the module for 6 minutes upon detecting motion, for security, only at night.   Also, would like to use multiple eagle eye sensors for different areas of the property.
I am not very handy with writing macros, can anyone help?

Your going to need the SmartMacros plug-in if you don't have it!
Then read up on using conditions and flags.
Also look at user designed working macros.
I'm sure someone will take the time to walk you through a macro but you need to understand how they work!
we also need a little more info
light transformers X10 address
all Eagle eye addresses
The more info you supply the more likely a macro created by a user will work for you!

Creating macros can be more trial and error.... than art. We have a section here at the forum of User-Designed Working Macros (<click on link). It's a library of working macros designed by members. I think the Front Porch Visitor Chime might apply to what your wanting to do... as might the Control driveway lights based on time and door status macro might. There is very likely other macros in there that could help you even more. Those are just a couple I spotted right away.

I think actually seeing these macros are the best way to learn how to construct them. Keep us posted on your progress!
