Hi all.

I am very new to the X10 products and was introduced to them by some of the guys I work with. I'm looking to set up the WS467 light switch to the RSS18 Homeplate Remote wall switch.

Are these two things compatible?

I ask because I can't seem to get the RSS18 to communicate with the WS467. Things that I have tried include:

  • Leaving all of the settings to default (Housecode = A Code =1) - Note that the RSS18 is sent from the factory with Housecode of A and the switches set to 1,2,3
Changing the Housecode to B and the Code to 2 on both the the RSS18 and the WS467.
  • Working with the RSS18 in front of as well as 15 feet away from the WS467

Is there something I'm missing?

Yes, a TM751.

The RSS18 is a wireless switch that sends commands by RF.  The WS467 receives its commands over the powerline.  You need a RF transceiver such as the TM751 to convert the RF commands to powerline commands.

Thanks a million for the information.

Other than "tribal knowledge" is there some place that something like this would be documented? I don't remember seeing this mentioned in the documentation anywhere.

Is there a light switch/controller that would not require a transceiver module like this?

There is no wall switch that can be directly controlled by the RF signal from a Retail Model RSS18; the X10 version SS13A.
You still need a transceiver.

The X10 manual is not very clear on the need for a transceiver.
The X10pro PHW04D version manual does show the transceiver and I believe it was part of the kit.

I did a ASK search for the RSS18 and it is available through Smarthome, but not the TM751 or RR501 transceiver to put the RF signals on the powerline as X10 signals. I would go to X10Pro at http://www.x10pro.com/ and get both.
I don't SELL this stuff... BUT I sure do ENJOY using it!!!
