WS467 Multiple Lights on same switch
« on: March 13, 2011, 03:55:22 AM »

I just replaced a switch that controlled two outdoor light fixtures (2 bulbs each, resulting in 4 total bulbs) that are both operated by the same switch. One set of the lights work but the other set doesn't. Any idea what the problem could be? I don't think its a three way switch. It did have an extra wire that I assumed was for ground that I didn't connect to the WS467. I removed the bulbs from the fixture that does work and the other fixture still doesn't work. If I remove only 1 bulb from the working fixture the other single bulb works but still none on the other fixture. They are all the same kind of bulbs. I put back in my original light switch and they all work so they aren't burned out. Any guidance would be appreciated as this is my first X10 project.

Where two of the wires on one terminal of the original switch?
If they where. Each one may go to one of the fixtures set of bulbs.
So if two wires where on the same switch terminal. Connect both of them to the load wire of the WS476.

If all three wires where on their own terminal of the switch. Then give us more details.

Simple answer is: it isn't X10, you just have a wiring error.

Yeah it turned out it wasn't a ground wire and it was previously connected on the same terminal as another wire. When I was looking at it previously I was being stupid and didn't realize this because one was on the outside around the screw while the other was stuck in the through the front hole. It wasn't until I read Brian's comment did I realize those were on the same terminal. I hooked it up so the two wires were with the load and it now works! Thanks for the help/pushing me in the right direction.
