I have seen old topics about LED lights before and not turning off, thought I would start a new topic in case something new has come out

OK so I have a Hayward LED Pool Light,  changed the switch to a XPS3
Light works fine from the switch on/off

Now from any remote device (small rf transmitter, Computer)  the Light Turns on But Not Off

This I have read is because the switch really doesnt have a big enough load from the LED's to tell the interface that it is On
Why wouldnt the RF remote work? isnt it just a hard On/Off Command?

Like other suggestions...do I have to wire in another light or put in a resistor?

If the light turns off from the switch, but not when you send a X10 command, it is likely the circuitry that powers the LED light from the 120V line is generating noise that is blocking the X10 signal.  The worst noise source I had ever run across was a Lumoform 4W 120V LED light.  Your Hayward LED light may be similar.

The fix is to isolate the light with a filter, such as the Leviton 6287, placed in-line between the switch and the light.

If the LEDs had glowed dimly when off. Then it could have been the small sensing current for the on/off status.
Since you seem to be controlling them properly with the local paddle. I would agree with Jeff and say sounds like power line noise from the LEDs.

Thank you for the replies,  OK the noise is possible..

How about this test I just did:

I took a PAT01 Transceiver and plugged it in an outlet that is right next to pool light switch on same line...
Now When I use the PHR04 remote to turn on...it goes right off, I push on, it clicks on, then clicks off by it self right away

Also the light Is not dimly lit when off

Does that confirm the issue?

So in this test when you try to turn it on from a remote, it turns on briefly and then turns right off by itself.

If that was in response to a single press of the ON button, it doesn't sound like noise is blocking the X10 transmission.  However, noise could still be interfering with the switch.

Previously it sounded like once on, you couldn't turn the switch off with the remote.  Now it sounds like you can't turn the switch on with the remote.  Does it still work correctly (both ON and OFF) when you control it manually from the paddle?  I am puzzled why it would stay on when turned on manually, but not when turned on with the remote.

Yes thats correct..I will summarize again
Computer running with cm15a no other transceivers
When I operate xps3 pool light using switch paddle it operates fine
If I use the remote or computer to operate light..only turns on wont turn off
I have 1 other light that works correctly

Now just as a test I plugged in a PT04 transceiver to an outlet right next to pool light and switch still functions correctly, but not by remote,  it comes on then off by itself

Do you mean you have one other LED light controlled by an XPS3 which works??

Is there any activity on your activity log when the XPS3 turns OFF immediately after you turn it on with transceiver in pool outlet? If not can you, as a test only, wire a small light in the circuit with the LED ?

Powerline noise is the common cause of a CFL or LED light turning on by X10 control, but not off.  The noise generated by the light blocks the X10 OFF command from being properly decoded.  The fix is to install an in-line filter (such as the Leviton 6287) between the switch and the load.

It is more difficult to explain why the switch will turn on properly by manual control, but will not remain on when controlled by a nearby X10 remote.  The one idea I have is the X10 ON command is causing some other device to issue a closely following X10 OFF command.  You may be able to verify this by checking your X10 control log.

Noise can do strange things, but I find it difficult to rationalize how noise can cause the automatic off.

Update

Installed the filter, no change
Disconnected Light, no change
Wiried in Standard Light, no change
Swapped GFI breaker, no change

How About...Swapped the switch,  And it works fine now!

I just assumed it was the LED pool loght since I read all over of the same kind of issues...Oh Well! Its Good now

There have been dozens of posts here where that was tried, but it didn't work.  Your experience shows that we shouldn't rule that out as an option.

Did you swap with the same model switch? Was it the same revision, or a different one?
Did you try the old switch in a different location, to see if it works any differently?

Yes,
Same exact switches
Swapped the bad one to known working location,  same symtpoms

Took good switch to pool light...all good now

Good troubleshooting procedure.
It does point to a defective switch.
