CM15a works from wireless remote but not from PC
« on: September 18, 2011, 10:32:45 AM »

Experiencing a strange problem.  The CM15A turns on and off all appliances from the wireless remotes AND, AHP on the computer sees the lights turning on and off.  but clicking the module on the computer will NOT turn any appliances on and off.

Yes I have done a "clear all timers and macros"  and done a reset by unplugging the cm15a from wall and usb and removing batteries,  waiting,  and installing fresh batteries.  Thank you for your help!

Yes, that IS strange. When you try and control a module from the computer, does the Activity Monitor show AHP sending the command? What revision is AHP?

We need more info.  What version of AHP are you using and the O/S of your computer.

What types of modules?
Have tried both "on" AND "off" from the computer?

If you have older Lamp modules (or wall switches), they may need to be defined using the "Old Lamps - no soft start" category (instead of just "lamps") to get AHP to send the older "on" commands (instead of the Extended Dim commands).
what is showing up in the Activity Monitor when you try to turn them on from the Computer? How does that compare to what you see when you turn them on with the remote?
Do you have any other transcievers plugged in (like a TM751 or RR501) that might be passing as stronger PLC signal to the powerline than the CM15A?

P.S.  If it is a bad cm15a, Where can I pick up just the cm15a without paying for the software again?

According to X10 you buy the CM15A and that through in AHP and sometimes more plugins. For no added cost.
I doubt you will find a CM15A for less than the normal $49.99.

Maybe some EBay seller but it may not be new.

That makes no sense at all.
If the CM15A is the only RF transceiver you have, and it is passing the PLC commands to the powerline from the remote, then I cannot explain why it cannot control those modules directly.

Are you sure that you have nothing else that could be passing the RF to the powerline?
Besides the LM465's, the AM466's, and the CM15A, what other X10 equipment do you have?
Do you have an X10 security system, by any chance? Those base stations also can act as RF transceivers.

So I installed ahp on another computer,  CM15a works fine!  Uninstalled AHP from original computer and reinstalled.  Did not work.  uninstalled AHP from original and all left over folders, reinstalled did not work.  Uninstalled AHP went in to regedit and wiped out all activehome listings, reinstalled  It worked!
