Dawn Dusk and Timer Designer problems
« on: September 23, 2011, 02:27:17 PM »

Please Help, I am stumped as to what to do next.

I am running AHP (from the UK) version 3.308, I have various macros working perfectly, dimming down lights when not in use and motion sensors brightening them when triggered BUT I cannot get any timers to work, either DUSK DAWN sensors or just standard ON at certain times....

I have read over everywhere in the forums trying to find what the problem could be and I am now officially stuck!!...

I've changed the battery (making sure it is a GREEN status) as I read somewhere that this has been an issue for someone
I've tested various appliance modules as well as switches to make sure I havent just put the wrong Modules code into the program (i.e wrong product codes)
I've checked that the Windows clock is the correct one, as well as making sure the Hardware Configuration Time Zone is correct.
I've checked the Dawn/Dusk readings are correct for my area

If I switch the toggles and trigger macros manually on the PC everything works brilliant, I just cant get any timers to work

I've ticked all the Transcieved House Code(s) and ticked the SPECIFIC box instead of auto in the hope that this might solve it, but still nothing.

When I check the Activity Monitor after the time has gone passed there is nothing to say it has been sent, the clock just goes passed the time and nothing seems to happen.

Any ideas of where else to look would be greatly appreciated

UPDATE..............

The shame and embarrassement of it..................I thought just by pressing the save button on the bottom right of the macro designer timer it automatically updated it.

Only just found the Update Timers and Macro buttons..........................how stupid B:(

Thank you very much for this quick reply.

I had clicked on this menu item, without improvement.  My understanding of the menu item is to download timers to the interface and it did not help.

Everything works just like you described, but the timers should operate from the computer also, not only from the interface (Interface is always attached to the computer and pluged to the house wiring).

There is no log entry in the activity log at the scheduled time of operation.

I can operate these modules with 100% succes with remote control and direct click on the ON and OFF position on the modules themselves in AHP (version 3.318), but not with the timers.

The two modules I have to control are:
Receptacle Module (Address B1)
XPFM Pro Inline Fixture Appliance (Address B2)

My house code is properly set at B everywhere.

Both these modules were operating flawless with the previous software version (for win XP) with CM11, but with CM15A, no joy.

I'm desperate !

This menu item will download and timers and macros that have the "store in interface" option checked, to the CM15A. If none of yours are set that way, it won't do anything for you. However, it should still indicate that it is downloading, and pop up a box when it is complete (unless you checked the box to hide that notification).

I'm not sure what you mean. Timers set to "store in interface" run from the CM15A. Those that are not set that way will run from the PC, as long as you keep AHP open.

Check the time and time zone on your PC. Make sure they are correct. Next, check the time and location in the AHP "Hardware Configuration". Make sure those are correct too. Then download again.
Are you using "fixed time" timers (ex: turn on at 6:00 PM), or dawn/dusk-based ones (turn on at Dusk)?

Again, we'll need a little more information. You have both modules defined properly (as the right module types) in AHP, right? What happens in the Activity Monitor when you control them either manually or with the remote? Is the CM15A passing the remote signals to the powerline, or do you have a separate transceiver (TM751 or RR501, for example)?

When you say "previous version," do you mean the original ActiveHome, or the newer ActiveHomePro?

OK, I have the box Store in the interface checked

OK.  I tested both procedures: without saving to the interface, with computer running and AHP open AND saved to interface and computer running and AHP open

Time in interface and on computer are the same.  I'm running a Light ON command at dusk-(45 min) and OFF command at fixed time.  For test purposes, I click on the module to flip it  ON then modify the Timer OFF time to few minutes later.  Then store to interface.  Nothing appens at the Timer preset OFF time. No log entries in the Activity file.

Yes, when I operate manually (remote or with AHP), I can see log entries in the Activity file and the modules operate accordingly.  All this is done through the same CM15A interface

The previous version means the original ActiveHome with CM11A.  Now I use ActiveHome Pro running on Vista with USB CM15A connected and recognized by the Operating system.

I thank you very much for helping me.
The only other concern could be to make sure I have the proper Module Type.  I'm confident I have selected the proper types ([Receptacle Module] and [Pro Inline Fixture Appliance XPFM]) in the list provided in AHP, but I remember having seen somewhere that perhaps the modules I use are from older versions compared to the one stored in AHP, resulting in improper codes being sent.  Maybe I shoud use a more generic Module Type, but I have no clue which one I should select. For test purposes, I'm presently working only with the Receptacle Module.

Dimmer type modules are the problem ones.
Older ones do not do soft start and you use the old before soft start module menu.
The newer soft start use the lamps module menu.

Look in the "Hardware configuration, for the Dusk and Dawn times.
Make sure they match the correct times for your location.
