Wierd Happining
« on: October 26, 2011, 08:34:45 PM »

Today at 4:44 PM my Lamppost (on housecode O1) went on for no reason.  The Activity Monitor recorded it. I used AHP to turn it off.   The timer is set to turn it on 30 minutes before dusk, which it did.   What would cause it?

Hmm. That's really strange.
You might want to try downgrading your AHP to 3.228, and see if that fixes the problem.  ;)

That's not an option.  Backdating to 3.228 is not an option.

I know that once you install 3.318, installing a new version on top doesn't downgrade (or the version number doesn't change - I don't know what version the DLLs actually are), but can't you uninstall, and do a clean install of 3.228?

I'm not going to rebuild my .ahx files to go back to 3.228  after converting all of them.  3.228 does not support soft-start modules and 2 lights in my attic are soft-start modules as there are no timers on anything in the attic.

Dan -
My suggestion to go back to 3.228 was only a joke.
However, the lamp coming on by itself should be looked into.
You said the Activity Monitor recorded it.
Did it show it as a "receive" command or a "Macro" command?
"Macro" would indicate it was turned on by either a Macro or a Timer (AHP doesn't differentiate in the logs between the two), and a "receive" would indicate it came from somewhere else.
If you see a "receive RF," then it is a remote somewhere that probably did it (or a motion sensor, perhaps? -  I don't know what components you have in your system, or what codes they are set to).

Was there anything else going on in the house at 4:44 PM that could have maybe caused a button to get pushed on a remote or something (like a remote falling off a shelf or something landing on it, or something)?

It might be a flaky and/or stuck contact on a stick-a-switch, too.

It didn't happen today, so chalk that up to a possible screw-up with a Stanley X10 controller (similar to a X10 MC460) made around 1990.  It got it's plug reversed and somehow got a housecode of O, which is for outside lights only.   I replaced the line cord plug and it's back on A where it is.   Go fig.

Wierd. Flipping the plug will not cause house code to change.  Since it is so old, the House Code dial and slide switches could be losing their contact tension, so power-up might cause the controller chip to be confused. Try exercising each switch several times and see if things improve.

I found out what happened.  The Wall Switch module that is O1 and controls the lamppost is right next to the SS13 that is used to turn on certain lights in the Living Room.  When I turned on lamp A2, my finger (my hands were full at the time) must have hit the toggle for the Lamppost too, turning it on.
