If you find that you can not download an apk from "google play" this may work for you:

using your PC:
do a search for the apk you are looking for, include apk in the name. go to one of the sites and download the apk to your pc.

I have found a good way to transfer files is using dropbox, I put the file in my dropbox folder on my pc then go to my XL and login to dropbox and install straight from there.
