X10 Pro Home Automation PH508 Powerhorn

Does anyone else own one of these?

WHY do they call them a siren?

It's sounds more like a car alarm going off.

I was under the impression that this unit would sound more like the siren in the SecuriLink System. I sprang and bought 2 of these ... one for the front and one for the back of my property. Not sure this would scare off intruders. I am very disappointed in this product and feel they should not promote this as a siren. They should add a .wav file to show an example of this product.

What are your thoughts?

Yes I have a few.
Can't say why they refer to them as a siren.
I believe at one time when Smarthome was selling them. They did have a .wav file attached to the sales page.

Now maybe you can give us some information.
Different hardware versions of the PH508 acted differently with an SC1200.
Do yours start making noise after a few security light cycles, then pause and start again or start sounding and not pause?
Do yours sound one blast everytime you arm the system?
If you can tell us how yours act and the Date Code on the small white sticker. It would give us a clue as to X10 ever fixing the problems with the PH508s.

Thank you for your information.

I just remembered that the older ones had a much louder audio output over the recently produced ones.
I had measured the differences with a small microphone and observing the voltage produced. By both an old and newly designed PH508.
Posted the results here somewhere. Page #7 of this thread on the diffeerent PH508 models with a SC1200.
