"Protector Plus" PS561 random faint 'pings'
« on: June 07, 2012, 11:32:44 AM »

So far as I can determine, my system still arms/disarms and triggers normally (just past the 12 month warranty point, though).   I've enjoyed earlier models that have been in service for well over ten years, (so of course I'm now wondering about quality control for current models).

My problem:  this past week I've been getting faint, random 'ping' sounds from the console (single & double pings, way, way less intense but mimicking the activation/deactivation pings).  They're growing in frequency (at first, a few times a day, now it's several times an hour).  Is there a solution?  Is my unit defective and needs servicing (already)?    :-\

Do the normally expected sounds still work properly?

Second question first: Probably.
Try a system reset and re-install all remote sensors. If that does not clear it, then it's a definte YES.

I've been using a PS561 for about ten years now, it's done what you describe a couple of times. I cleared the system and reset everything just as Dave W suggested. Fixed it for me. Never have figured out what caused it.

I bought a spare PS561 just in case it was defective at the time, but it hasn't done it in a few years now.
