SC12A Chimes when activated
« on: June 15, 2012, 06:52:09 PM »

I am not sure if this security system is suppose to start continuously chiming, but it scares my dogs.  I do not have it hooked to a phone and just want it activated at night so I know if anyone breaks into my house.  I simply push the activate button on the remote key chain(all doors are closed) and the system starts beeping. Is it suppose to do that?  Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The ding count down is the exit delay. If not changed in the Delay Menu it should time out in 60 seconds.
It should happen with the Arm Away Button on the SC12A.
The Arm buttons on the KR10A and KR32A keyfobs should Arm Away with no delay and only ding one time.
What remote are you using KR10A or KR32A?

If you are using the SH624 remote.
Which button set are you using and what is the Max-Min switch set to?
Using the Min setting on the SH624 should give you one ding on Arm Away and Arm Home. Max gives you the Exit Delay with both Arm Away and Arm Home buttons.

Edit to correct menu name where Exit Delay is found.

Thanks for your reply. I am using the KR32A and pushing the ARM button.  Is there a menu option that will reduce the chiming down from 60 sec.?  Thanks.

The Arm button on the KR32A should NOT cause the Exit Delay to happen. There should be only one Ding.
Menu 8 Setting Delays. Exit Delay. Note this also shortens the Exit Delay if you ever want to use the Arm Away Button on the SC12A or Max choice on the SH624.

Even though you are not phoning out. Did you put some phone numbers in the memory and record an outgoing message?
I am also not dialing out but had added a few numbers to mine. On the chance I changed my mind. I also have an outgoing message in mine.
I don't know if the SC12A may act strange if an outgoing message and phone number is not in its memory. You may want to try it.
