Hi,

I have one of these Bayweb internet thermostats http://www.bayweb.com/internet-thermostats/ that uses x10 wireless motion sensor. I'm having trouble getting it to receive one sensor that is about 20 feet and 3 walls away. Another that is about the same distance and number of walls away in a different direction works fine.

I tried the same range extending suggestion as for the CM15A here http://davehouston.org/X10_feng_shui.htm . The Bayweb has about a 20 gauge solid core 10.75 inch long wire for the x10 antenna. I paired it up with a 14 gauge 18.1 inch wire and it didn't help.

I thought it was strange Bayweb used a 10.75 inch wire, as it is a good bit over the 1/4 wavelength distance for x10. Should I try cutting back the Bayweb antenna to 8 inches to make it a 1/4 wavelength? Or am I as likely to mess up the reception I do have doing that?

Have you added an antenna to the motion detector?  What motion detector are you trying to use?
In my setup, I am using multiple eagle/hawk eye motion detectors, and have added the antenna mod (a piece of wire along the left side (looking at the front of the detector)), and it works GREAT!!!  The wire is 18" long.

I agree with pomonabill - adding a passive radiator at the motion sensor as the first step.

I just installed the same Bayweb Internet thermostats and I love them.  I had the same issue with one of my PMS02 motion detectors and putting an 18" piece of wire under the sensor resolved the issue.

That's good to know. Would you update your original thread for those who might be following it?
