Temperature Monitor

I have a little different twist on temperature monitoring that other posts that I have found.  I have 6 refrigerators and 3 freezers that I need to know when they exceed a specific temperature.  Usually it a door not closed tightly or some simple fix.  I just need to be notified that a unit has exceeded a specific temperature.   Any ideas??  Thanks

Well depends on whether it has to be X10.

If not, here is simple and cheap:

If it has to X10 with alarms, email, strobes, etc. etc. etc.,  then your choice could be a refrigerator thermostat wired to a X10 PowerFlash, or a  DS12A sending to CM15A and AHP.

Are the coolers "walk-in"?

The best solution would be a battery operated wireless thermometer that would transmit temperature to a controller that would send an email or text if temp gets too high. Like the unit you posted link to, there are one or two unit weather and temperature monitors but nothing that would notify me if there is a problem.  X10 stuff just seemed like the right place to go with this because of notification software.  Thanks for you input.

Yes X10 is one way to go, but if you do not have X10 now, it is difficult to get started. X10 relies on power line and limited range RF for system communications. Is very persnickity until you "fine tune" your home for X10. Search this forum for "noise", "phase coupling", and "signal sucker" for some information about problems you may encounter.

What about WiFi? Something like "Twine": Ain't cheap, but you have some requirements that is going to require to throw some money at it.
