Might be a dumb question but can a camera provide a good view through a window? I really don't want to setup one outdoors and I have a window on each side of my front door and I can mount a small one inside and so it is not an eyesore. Can anyone suggest a good camera that I will hardwire? Darn just remembered... Indoor cams won't work when i want to see outside when its dark. Thanks

An outdoor camera may not work either - glass blocks some infrared wavelengths so it may not be able to illuminate the scene through a window.

Right.. as long as a light is on inside the same room or its to bright, you will only see the reflection in the window at night plus the IR bounce back.

Outside cameras are the way to go.

I had that same problem with the old day/night x10 cameras that you could mount on the pan/tilt device. Inside was useless to see at night if i had the light on.
