The photo isn't of much help and my direct experience was 30+ years back with 3 phase star/delta industrial motors.

One suggestion - if there's someone in the area who rewinds motors, they may be able to steer you to a source for a replacement capacitor.

Unfortunately, there is no info on the capacitor itself.  I pulled it off to see if it was hiding next to the motor.  I thought it was held in place by a sleeve, but apparently that's part of the construction.  The only info I have at this point is a model number, the manual (which I don't think has any extra info), the manufacturer contact (who hasn't built a chipper in 25 years), the wiring diagram (picture 2), and the name plate on the motor (picture 1).  The info on that name plate indicates 40uF at 240V.  The wiring diagram doesn't help me other than to say that it looks like the motor has 2 windings (main w. and aux w.).  I checked online and it looks like universal capacitors for running and starting can be had for as little as $14 shipped (from China).
