Yes it is!  I've been a convert for months and it's been serving me quite well.

I have been convinced for sometime now that the future of HA computing is.... phones. What can be done with these things is simply limitless.

Right now I use an iPhone to connect to a little netbook-like PC (it runs XP) on my home network. That little notebook uses a CM19A to communicate with a CM15A and my HA laptop. Almost... like my own Rube Goldberg machine. I am SO ready for X10 to get up to speed with new devices and software.

I recently purchased a RaspberryPi Model B+.
So as I get more experience with it. I too may look at automation type uses.

The Raspberry Pi model B has been working really well so far.  The added capability of the B+ would be nice, so if I get another, it might be that.  But, I recently found out that there are derivative projects from the Raspi, too (e.g., Banana Pi).  These are more than powerful enough for HA and provide such a small form factor they can practically be taped to a wall (I screw mounted) and use almost no power.  The Android on a stick are very similar and would be a good alternative if you don't need GPIO (which I'm not currently using anyway).
