Din rail x10 controlers
« on: April 16, 2015, 04:30:10 PM »

In Europe  you can buy x10,  220V,  DIN rail  mounted modules at very reasonable prices. The only problem for me is that I live in the USA where we use 110V power. I currently remodeling my house and would like to homerun my lighting to a central relay panel and would like to use x10 modules to control the lighting. Especially the dimmer functions. Also,  all of  my  lighting is Led  so I need the correct type of control module. An Android control app would be handy too.

Did you check out smarthome.com ?
They have Insteon DIN modules and according to the manual, X10 address can be added. If you LED bulbs are dimmable, the DIN dimmer should work, otherwise use the DIN On/Off module.

They also have an Android app for use with their Insteon Hub, The Original Insteon Hub ( 2242-222) supported X10, but I don't know if the new one does or not. You will need to research that.

From what I have read. The new 2245-222 HUB does not support X10 and the Android App does show an X10 control but it does not work.

I would also research the present DIN Rail Dimmer or On Off Modules. Insteon is dropping X10 support in the latest model modules. I got the impression they want to drop X10 support completely.
Both no longer list X10 support on their sales pages but I have also seen inaccurate sales pages lately.

I downloaded the DIN Rail Manuals and they where last updated in 01/21/2014. They still show the X10 support in the specification page and how to add the X10 address to the module.

X10 controllers may not dim an Insteon Module with an X10 address added correctly. Due to which X10 protocol dimming commands the manufacturer chose to use. Extended Messaging or preset dim.
