Should there be alternate means to link app to base unit?

My WAG is that the UID#=MAC address.

Not the just mac address, the UID is to long.
However interestingly with the developer trying to figure out the DST issue I was asked for some info so the developer could compare with my WM100.
The only info they wished about the WM100 was the number under the QR code starting with WM100 ....
Maybe the UID is this + the mac address in hex format. ::) :'
