Thinking about upgrading my aging X10 system with an XTB-IIR and CM15A. Would there be any added convenience or benefit by adding a V572A?

Unless your house is very large I'd say no.
Why not try with out it you can always get  a RF repeater if you need more RF distance https://www.x10.com/sr751.html or it later If you find it is needed. The CM15A is a transceiver, handling both RF and PLC.

The XTB-IIR is a useful addition to any X10 installation and solves a wide range of signal issues. It greatly reduces the need for filters and delivers useable signal throughout even very large homes. It's worth every penny and more.  The CM15A would be a perfect choice to use with the PiX10Hub which is just days away from initial release. As far as the W572A goes, that would depend on how you plan to use X10 RF remotes.

Ditto on the JVDE's  XTB-IIR.  X10 is a simple, cost effective setup and the XTB-IIR is the icing on the cake.

I've been using X10 30+ years to control high-load appliances in my home to take advantage of the lower TOUD utility rates. Once I found JVDE's XTB-IIR unit, I never looked back. I removed all my "passive couplers" b/c the XTB-IIR solved nearly all of my X10 communications issues with the exception of "noisy" florescent lamps.  Now those all have filters and I'm a very happy X10 "old timer" Later!

I have a V572 and XTB-IIR.
The V572 is connected to the XTB-IIR's TW523 emulation port. Works great in my home. Even though the V572 is in the cellar near the XTB-IIR and has only the included antenna on its RF connector with no coaxial cable to place it at a higher location.
