Chime Module acting as a clock
« on: March 30, 2005, 10:34:35 AM »

Folks,

I have a chime module on the way. What would
be the best set-up if I want it to chime on
the hour as a clock?
Would it be to create Timer events for every
hour I want or a Macro with an hour delay
initially triggered by a single Timer on my
Chime module?

Timer events for every hour as this keeps
the macro event portion of the interface
available for your macros. Anything that
needs to run at a specific time should be
timed.

Martin,
I use a timer for a chime alert at 7am and
again at 5pm each day except Saturday and
Sunday. I also use the X10Dispatch program to
give audible announcements at 7 and 5 and for
other events throughout the day.  So far, so
good... My only regret is that the chime is
not adjustable for loudness, tone or sequence
of tones.
Regards,

I use a chime module with outside motion
detector to alert when someone is in our
courtyard after dusk till sun rise.  I also
have it chime at dusk -30 minutes as I have
several lights that come on then, the chime
reminds me that lights should start comming
on.  It would have been nice to have a
selectable tone, volume, etc......

There is an article at: http://www.idobartana.com/hakb/modifying_chime_module.htm which describes how to modify the tone and the volume of the module.
