I'm DONE
« on: April 05, 2005, 08:52:04 PM »

Well I got a replacement CM15A today and
was expecting something that works.  I was
wrong.  It fixed one of my problems and
created a whole slew of others.  Thats it,
I'm done.  Unfortunatly I purchased the
CM15A and the smart macros both bundled
with a slew of other stuff (Bundles are
X10's way of making it very impratical for
you to return anything for a refund.  I was
not going to pull all my wall switchs out
of the wall) so I will eat the $100 wasted
on X10 equipment that does not work.  I've
just ordered Smarthomes 1132CUP.  I will
post my experience with the 1132 when I
get.  X10 should be embarassed as a company
for selling a product riddled with so many
problems.  Its a good concept, poor
execution.

Excellent choice!!!!!
I just received mine, it’s working great.
The cm15 it’s not a total loss, you can use
it as a wireless receiver

Yes the V572A [didn't need the TW523] is an
impressive RF Tranceiver.

I am in the process of trying to get my
money back for the 2 year extended warranty
and the CM15a. I too had mine replaced and
made one step forward and one step back.
My immensely taxing 2 macros work now. My RF
range decreased. No chance of it being used
as a RF Transceiver.
Total junk.
Brian and George.....Do you have any
keychain remotes that you use with the 572A?
If you do, what sort of range are you
getting?

Well I just sent X10 and email
a weeek ago for a RMA return number and
have not gotten any responses. I want to
return 3 CM15As and still no response. I to
went back to my homebase controller which
as worked with out a burp for 7 years. This
was made by JDS and works great. I can  not
wait for X10 any longer as I need something
that WORKS.

I take it that none of you need to "send rf
from the controller to any modules.  i.e.
CM751  unit code 1?

not I ...
I have no X10 modules or X10 equipment in my
current setup that is capable of receiving
radio transmissions with the exception of the
CM15A.

A.Normal, B. Kish,
I would be "most happy" to take the CM15A's
off your hands... Do you need me to send you
a shipping box and return label ? (no refunds
of course.. but maybe a small token of my
appreciation)  I have one that works well
with all my modules, timers and macros and
another CM15 that was pretty scatter brained
but works darn well as an X10Dispatch audible
announcer.

SteveRF - you say you have 2 CM15As - one
works well, the other doesn't.  Are they
both original units, or is one (or both) a
diagnostic unit. If they are different,
which one is the working unit?

ARF,
One is a Diag unit the other is a late Dec
2004 purchase.  The Diag unit is running the
house and the other does the X10Dispatch
reporting.  The diag unit has run without
interruption since 7 Mar (except to download
ver 3.183) last week.  The diag unit runs
disconnected from the PC 24/7.

This is my first post and probably my
last.  I would like to thank all who
contribute to the forum and share their
knowledge.  I have learned a lot about home
automation from you.  I am also done with
AH.  I ordered my first CM15A in early
January and it ran flawlessly for about two
weeks and then it would not work
consistently with timers or macros and the
RF literally died.  With each upgrade my
CM15A got worse. One of the primary
purposes that I purchased the CM15A was the
whole house transceiver.

I did receive an RMA in late February and
received the new CM15A in about two weeks
but none of my RF devices would work
outside of 10 feet of the CM15A.  I did try
all suggestions with the antenna and
placement; but no success. One suggestion
from AH was to get a long extension cord
and hang the CM15A from the ceiling.  My
wife did not buy into that suggestion. I
did not try macros or timers with the
second CM15A because having a transceiver
was equally important to me.  My CM15A now
sits on my desk and is a great paper
weight!  Finally I found a function that it
could accomplish.

I purchased the SmartHome PowerLinc
Controller (1132CU) and only use two TM751
transceivers (one for each house code that
I have sensors).  These are the cheapest
that you can purchase.  The H12A (Palm
Control) works from anywhere in the house.
I have had zero problems in six weeks. My
new system never stops working!  I have
even moved on with HomeSeer with voice
recognition and I have not had any problems
with the 1132CU.

Good luck to all and again thanks for
sharing!
