x64 Driver?
« on: December 27, 2005, 08:09:48 PM »

Hi,

Is there a driver for CM15A for the 64-bit
version of Windows XP? If so, how can I
obtain it?

Regards,
Jason

Since the 64-bit processor and the 64-bit
version of XP are so new I would have to say no.

Driver compatabilty is a question you will
have to ask Microsoft if the current 32-bit
driver for AHP (and a LOT of other hardware)
will work under XP64.

Need to know program software compatabilty
problems I may face with conversion to 64-bit
Windows XP from 32 bit. Apparently there are
formidable problems. Is there a simple fix?
Thanks for help.

Microsoft will have to answer your
compatiblty question, and so far they
haven't. The current guess is that 32 bit
software should work, since 16-bit  sofware
worked under 9x. Since as of this date 64-bit
software isn't available over the counter as
of this date.

Thanks, Dan. For what it may be worth, Linux
OS's seem to have similar problems loading on
x64 when they operated well on 32 bit.
Growing pains! Will this cause the Mac
problems moving down the Intel Road? I hope not.

Just to be clear.  No 32-bit drivers will load on a 64-bit system, and it is the manufacurerer's responsibility to write the drivers.  I would like to have the drivers for my VA11a so I could use my cameras, but alas, nothing yet from X10 after a year. >:(

I don't know when 64-bit drivers for the VA11A will be available. We don't have an estimate and its not currently on our work timeline.

On that last post from x10 pro, they state they do not have a 64 bit driver for their VA11A, and they do not see any updates on their time table to even develop a driver. This to me says it all. They have no plans to upgrade their driver, or keep up with the latest operating systems that are rapidly being sold by the big manufactures. Their perfectly content to just stay where they are and not improve. I will not buy from X10 in the future, because of this attitude. If you are thinking of upgrading your Windows XP to 64 bit, and you want to use X10 DONT upgrade, or nothing they sell will work on your system. My advice: purchase your equipment, and software from a more modern upbeat company, that strives to keep up, and inprove on their product line. X10 seems to be only be interested in getting their software they already released with tons of bugs to work properly. Here's a good idea: Don't use your customer base as guinea pigs to test your products and software, then have the customers work out the problems themselves. More money is needed in your R&D department, and engineering. If you look at your Forums you will find customers answering questions, more than actual X10 employees. What a shame!!!!

I will add to my previous statement.

We *will* be writing a new driver for the VA11A in order to sign it and have it work better with Windows Vista. When we do that, we will also make a 64-bit version. That will probably happen later this year, as the release of Vista is gets closer.
