LM15A - PAM01 and Flourescent Lights

This might be a repeated question but, can
these modules work CORRECTLY - with out
flickering like the appliance module PAM01?
Also, if anyone knows, what is the
difference between the LM15A and the PSM04.
Lastly, does the AM486 have the same
features at the PAM01?  ie. the local turn
on feature - I believe that is what is
making the flourescent light flicker on the
PAM01.

Kent:  I am not sure what a PAM01 is, but
the AM486 does have the "local turn on
feature" (as you called it) and that
feature is what causes some CFLs to flicker
when off.  It is easy to modify an
appliance module disable the sensing
current to prevent the flicker.  For an

Yes the Local Sensing circuit has a small
current flow that can cause CFLs to flicker.
All of mine did untill I removed the diode
inside the module to disable the local
sensing circuit. The jumper shown in some
mods. disables the local switching sensing,
but they will still flicker. Cut the diode
is the other option shown by many sites.

I believe the PAM01 also has the sensing
circuit along with an added AGC circuit. The
LM15A is a socket rocket and should not be
used with a CFL type lamp.

information.  I have tried the link that was
provided and the information does not seem
to be there anymore.  If there are any other
sites or locations where I can find
information in ending the flicker/local turn
on feature, it would be much appreciated.

To be honest Roger....you've stumbled onto
a "darned if I know" question.  It may be
my  21" monitor/X-high-res setting on my
main PC, or it may be Mozilla - it's the
only one of my 3 PC's that has that
particular combination.  It's always better
to be lucky than smart...no?

6 foot long double bulb fixtures-  after a
couple of hrs the bulbs exhibit lightening
looking streaks inside the tubes.

I changed the ballast on one fixture which
didnt help.  It it possible too much
electricity is being drawn on the circuit
(it seems when the airconditioner comes on
it gets worse).

how to stop this?
