Danny,
Since this application is terminating an
unused input pin, the current drain would be
very low...1/8 watt and any thing larger
should not present any problem . Use what
you have.

Dave W.  I know that...but I'm just
wondering how low the wattage is in the
resistors I have.  I guess I'll just try
one and hope for the best.  I would just
like to know if anyone else has done
this...and again...if this really fixes the
problem...why doesn't X-10 just do that
from the factory?

Danny:  It doesn’t matter what the power
rating of the resistor you have is.  The
calculation for power dissipation is V^2 /
R.  The 78566 runs at 5V and if you are
using a 10k resistor that is 5^2 / 10,000
which is 0.0025W (or 1/400 W).  This is
much smaller than the lowest rated resistor
you can get.

Danny,
I have a bunch of WS467 switches that are ghosting as
well. I have blocked the the noise coming into the house
and filterlinced my computer and big TV (seem to be
biggest noise generators) but the switches still have a
mind of their own. I am considering moding them before I
drop a couple hundred bucks to replace them with
another brand. Could you (or anyone else) let us know if
you have any success with this mod? Also, if you do it,
could you post a couple before and after pics?

Well...I only got so far as opening it up,
and having a look.  The places you need to
solder are terrible, so I just gave up,
although I may be forced to give it a shot
down the road.

I just left the switch alone, and all seems
well for me now anyways, so that's why I
ended up not bothering with the mod.
Perhaps someone else will try, and post
their results here.

I fixed my ghosting problems:
as they start ghosting they end up in the
trashcan and replaced by another very
reliable brand.
Soon there will be no X10 brand product in
my home and loving it.

What kind are you switching to? Have you had the same
problem with the new switches?

Danny,
I opened one up last night and the soldering looks like it
was done in a middle school shop class. Also, a couple
little metal pieces fell out that apparently make the kill
switch work, but I think I may have lost one since it does
not seem to go back together correctly. It is not even a
real switch, it is just a tiny little bar of metal that pivots
across two contacts! I am afraid of creating a (worse) fire
hazard if I mess with it, so I think I will just be switching
to Togglelincs.

It has preset dim, local Dim control, these
switches require neutral wire to be
connected, they cost more but it’s well
worth the extra money.
I wish I had known about these before I
wasted my money with X10.

The switch  support standard X10 command +
Preset Dims, I am not sure if AHP has
preset Dim support in the current version.
It is real nice to be able to turn a light
on at any brightness level with a single
command instead of a series of Bright(for
On) or Dim for Off. Or be blinded first
(Full On)

I performed the mod, and my ghosting
problems have not been reduced at all.
