Anyone have their CM15A get fried?

My system has been working fine for months,
and then a couple of days ago lights stopped
turning on and off automatically (though
remote controls still worked).  When I then
plugged my CM15A into my computer, Windows
said "One of the USB devices attached to this
computer has mulfunctioned, and Windows does
not recognize it."  This happens on *both* of
my computers, which previously have had no
problem talking to the CM15A via ActiveHome
Pro.  Does this mean my module has died?

Sounds like it. Try a complete reset on the
cm15a. Unplug it and remove the batteries.
Wait a few minutes then try again. If still
malfunctioning. Get it exchanged.

Sounds normal...Similar has been reported
many times by many forum users.  CM15A jsut
stops functioning after working fine for
several months.  A full reset usually fixes
problem.  X10 has been asked several times
(or more) and has refused to make any
comment on the problem, and has refused to
to state if they have actually tested or
analyzed returned units.

Hey X-10, do you know what a stack overflow
is? Can you say hack programming? Folks,
unless X-10 releases the interface spec. this
is as good as it gets!

I just plugged in a brand new CM15A into an
outlet that is on the downside of a UPS and
it did not work ... XP Pro stated that there
was an unknown USB device so it would not
connect to the software ... the moment I
plugged the unit into a regular AC outlet it
worked fine ... I suggest that checking the
internal AC xformer output ... if the
xformer over heated there could be an
internal thermal switch and or fuse that has
gone in your unit if the AC connection is
broken it will most likely do the same thing
I experienced with the UPS ... most
controller clock software will use the 60Hz
of the AC circuit as a reference for
counting seconds rather then use a xtal
counter/divider ... older X10 products have
a very fine wire for a fuse

BJ; The schematic does show a fuse. I
believe like older units it is a short piece
of very thin wire.
