Macro not triggered
« on: February 03, 2005, 06:08:00 PM »

I noticed that half of the time I use the
palm pad to start the macro it does not
start.
I looked in the log (activity monitor) and
there are two type of sequences being
generated when I click on the palm pad.
Sometimes:
a)
K9 ON
... and some other times:
b)
K9
K ON

Whenever the palm pad seems to transmit #b
the macro works but not when it transmits
#a. I'm not sure why it does not transmit
the same secvence each time.
In any case the active home software seems
to know their either #a or #b means turn on
K9 such it should start the macro.

Any suggestions?

I am not sure why you are seeing this, but
it sounds like a) is the RF command
received (X10 RF combines the address and
command in one message) where as it sounds
like b) is a Power Line command generated
(X10 PL has sepparate commands for the
address and command with the house code
repeated in the command).

Thanks you. That explains part of the
problem. I recall I have in another part of
the house a switch that has a "PL booster"
feature that I suppose it takes the "K9
OFF" signal and it retransmits is PL
style "K9" then "K OFF". And perhaps the
retransmition is not done every time -
looking again at the log I see the the RF
style "K9 ON" is always present where the
PL style is there only some times.

The problem still remains that the macro
does not get triggered when only the RF
style signal is there.

This is how the log looks when it does not
work:

16 02/03/2005 8:55:26 am Receive RF K9 Off
17 02/03/2005 8:55:27 am Receive RF K9 Off
18 02/03/2005 8:55:30 am Receive RF K9 Off
19 02/03/2005 8:55:31 am Receive RF K9 Off
20 02/03/2005 8:55:32 am Receive RF K9 Off

And this is when it works (notice that it
gets retransmited PL style):

720 02/03/2005 10:02:31 pm Receive RF K9
Off
721 02/03/2005 10:02:31 pm Receive RF K9
Off
722 02/03/2005 10:02:31 pm Receive RF K9
Off
723 02/03/2005 10:02:31 pm Receive RF K9
Off
725 02/03/2005 10:02:31 pm Receive K9
(Garage Light)
726 02/03/2005 10:02:32 pm Receive K Off
727 02/03/2005 10:02:33 pm Macro M5 (Garage
Light)
728 02/03/2005 10:02:33 pm Macro M Off
(Garage Light)

I don’t think it is the PL booster since it
is the transceiver that converts RF signals
to PL signals.  It sounds like the
transceiver in your CM15a is not always
working.  The macros probably only respond
to PL signals, so if the transceiver
doesn’t do its job, the macro won’t work.

Do you ever have the same problem with any
of your modules (lamp, appliance, etc) not
responding properly?

Do you have any modules on house code K, or
are there only macros?  If not, try and add
a dummy module within the AHP software on
house code K and see if that helps.

Gigi: It does sound like the transceiver in
your CM15A isn't working consistently. I can
replace your interface and see if that works.
I just sent you an e-mail about it.
