I posted this on another thread, but I
thought I would post it as a new message.

When I start up ActiveHome Pro the first time
after booting my computer, and now after
loading 3.180, but not rebooting, I get the
following in the Activity Monitor:

Receive N All Units Off

This happens about twice a second, until I
unplug the unit and plug it back in.  When I
do that, I get Receive FR A Unknown and
nothing else. I am assuming this is an init
type problem and inconsequential.  The system
then works normally.

Timers are working.  The unit sends and
recieves commands manually.  Everything
appears to work fine, except this activity
when I boot the computer, and then start AHP.

I am using a SmartHome 4826B SIGNALINC
REPEATER.  It goes crazy with X10 activity
when I see the same thing in the Activity
Log.  Before I start AHP up, it has no
activity.  The strange thing is if I shut
down AHP and restart it with out rebooting
the computer, it does not show any activity
and everythings works normally.  Unplugging
the CM15A and quickly plugging it back in
solve the problem.  Very weird.

I am now using 3.180 and Win XP Home, SP 2

Any ideas?

I think we're going to have to get a 4826B
SignalLinc Repeater here for testing. You're
the second person using one to report a
similar problem. Do you have any two-way
modules set up in ActiveHome Pro?

I don't think I have any two way items, but I
will check when I get home.  I will thake the
Signallinc out and see what happens and
report back.

Yes, no two way modules.

I take the Signalinc out, and no problems in
Activity Monitor.  But then I can't control
anything. I put it back in, I get control
back, but I get the bogus receive commands
after booting my computer and running AHP.
It looks like just booting the computer does
not affect it, acording to the Signalinc
LEDs, but it is the boot combined with
starting APH.

I’ve been working to clean up the power
lines for reliable X10 communications.
Isolated the newest RCA HDTV/DTV  (Model
P61310) to be the culprit of polution.
Didn’t even require unplugging.  With the TV
ON rarely able to turn on garage and
driveway lights… Turn off the TV (leaving
everything else on – Theater sound equipment
etc.) and its easy to turn the Garage and
driveway lights ON or OFF.
1.   Got a XPPF filter plugged it into
outlet, plugged TV into it and NO CHANGE  TV
must be off before Garage lights and
Driveway lights can be turned ON/OFF.
2.   Returned the XPPF (5Amp capacity)
and got an Advanced Control Technologies,
Inc AF120 120VAC, 15A, plug-in filter and a
SignaLinc Coupler-Repeater Model 4826B
(three-prong 220V Dryer Plug-in pass-through
with LED Status lights).
a.   Plugged in filter and TV into
filter – NO CHANGE.
b.   Plugged in Coupler-repeater – slight
change, could succeed a small fraction of
the time with the TV ON. However I noticed
the Red Led’s were on for prolonged periods
of time without the green going on to
indicate a repeat. Very rapidly blinking
both separately and together.  Turn the TV
OFF and the red LED flurry immediately stops
and the lights sequence as real commands are
transmitted Red to Green (blink, blink).
The logging function (AHP Activity Monitor)
appears as though the whole neighborhood is
sending House and Unit codes that I am not
using however they ALSO disappear when the
TV is OFF (using A, C, K, L, M and not all
unit codes for each.

Wow - looks like you won't accidentally leave
the TV on when you drive away!...(OK just
kidding)

I've read somewhere that for real "polluters"
- some people have put two 5 amp filters in
series to knock down severe noise - can't
remember where I saw that...BUT....before you
try anything that desperate:

Something in your note struck a cord.  You
said the TV had to be ON before you could
turn on lights...I'm going to make an
assumption that you're turning them on with RF.

So I'm going out on a limb here.  Could your
TV be creating EM radiation...meaning RF
noise not AC noise?  Can you move your
transceiver further away and try it?  OR -
change the address of the lights...maybe the
RF noise (if it exists other than in my head)
is more destructive to some codes than others.

Lastly - back to the possible AC noise - you
saw a slight improvement with a
repeater..so..you may be seeing a ganging of
tolerances (that's a British term for "things
adding up").  Your TV may be just one of a
couple things in circuit that's combining its
noise...with another device's noise.
Together they're unbeatable - but with a
repeater you can just talk-over it sometimes.
Or there may be a signal sucker adding it's
magic to the code which is trying to overcome
the TV's noise.  Just some thoughts based on
your note.

This sounds like the exact same problem I
had today when I installed a Leviton HCA02
coupler/repeater/

The Leviton HCA02 has been reported to  cause
X-10 signal storms with most X-10
controllers.  X-10 is aware of this problem,
but it does not seem to be specific to CM15a
- the Leviton device is incompatible with many.

I can only find one old post about this (see
originator of this post) - but there was a
BIG string of notes about trouble with the
Leviton HCA series repeater/coupler months ago:

I have also begun to have many problems with
endless loops since the last upgrade.  While
I have seen the Receive N All Units Off
problem and some of the others that have been
posted here, the more common problem is that
some macros just get stuck and repeat
endlessly shutting down the rest of the system.

I have also seen that even without these
activity loops sometimes the system just
stops working.  It won't even be able to turn
off or on modules from the computer directly
much less via RF.

I also have the Smarthome active
coupler/repeater.

Hi,
I also have a Leviton HCA02 installed and am
having a looping problem.  The looping
problem started when I added some 2-way lamp
modules to my system.
I also recently installed a V572AB and
turned off tranceiving on the CM115A, but I
had this problem before I installed the
V572AB.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not one you want to hear.  Those that had the
Leviton HCA02 have removed it and replaced it
with a different product.

about the ACT 4821AC. Any opinions,
experiences?

I'n not one to over analyze things. All of
my symptoms point to the Leviton unit. I'm
going to seriously consider getting one of
the ACT units. I've seen other posts on
various forums about it and EVERYONE loves
it.
