I have notified many of the same issues with
the CM15A and the new software. I have
downloaded the latest updates that helped
make the CM15A visable when using a USB
hub. I have noted that just unplugging the
USB cable from the CM15A and plugging it
back into the unit will make it disappear.
The root cause seems to be the drivers. If
you plug everything in and you have
successfully loaded the software and reboot
your machine it will find the unit and you
will be able to talk to the unit. The
removal of batteries, different USB ports,
etc is frustrating to say the least. I have
loaded the latest drivers, which addressed a
few issues, but the connection and
disconnection of a USB device should be
allowed and does not seem to be supported
with the current drivers. My last
ActiveHome controller never had this time
issue, but it used the serial interface.
Not sure why others are not seeing this
issue, I have tried it on Windows 2000 and
Windows XP with the same results. Very
intermittent, works fine if you boot with
the unit plugged into your PC, not the
normal situation I use. I often update my
units by plugging them into my home computer
to reset timers, add devices, etc. Most of
the time I use the unit as a master timer to
control lighting, etc. Performing these
routine adjustments has been very
challenging using this new controller and
their newest software.
Let me know if others have found solutions.
