Using bonus floodlight with DS700
« on: September 10, 2004, 03:35:42 PM »

Hi there -
Recently picked up the DS7000 with the
bonus motion sensing floodlight - is there
anyway to rig this into the DS7000 system?
Would like to mount the motion light inside
my garage (not heated) and have it trigger
the alarm is motion is present. Any
suggestions?

Why not use the motion sensor instead?

That is actually a good question... For
clarity sake - you would like to know how to
use the Flood Motion Detector in addition to
the Wireless Motion Detector that was
provided in DS700?  If so, I don't have an
answere... but I'm about to experiment with
installing to Flood Motion Detector on an
older Security System Console... I don't like
have X-10 equiptment that just lays around
not being used either! (and I've got a LOT of
X-10)  :>)}

Hi there -
Yes, The motion sensors I purchased are in
use within the house - not to mention my
garage is seperate and unheated.. I'm sure
our -30C Canadian winters would eat one of
the battery powered motion sensors alive.
Hence, I have this "bonus" outdoor- 110
powered motion sensor that obviously uses
X10 signals - so, any way to use it as a
motion sensor with the DS7000 System?

I hear ya Shawn.

I have a similar question. Does the motion
sensor on the floodlight send it's signal by
RF like the others, or does it send regular
X10 signals over the wiring? If it sends RF
signals like the regular PIR sensors, you
should have no trouble, since the security
systems only accept RF signals. I know that
for a fact because I asked tech support. On
the other hand, if the floodlight's motion
sensor sends the commands on the wiring,
there will be no way for the security system
to receive the signal. The security system
controller can only receive RF signals, like
from PIR motion sensors, or door/window
switches.

Maybe X10 Pro or Paul of LHS could answer
this one for certain?
