Window/Door Sensors

Just bought the DSL Security System along
with the window/door and motion sensors.

How flush do the magnets on the window/door
sensors need to be?  The window casing will
obviously make one magnet stick out a
little further than the one attached to the
window.  Is this okay as long as the
magnets are lined up length-wise and are
touching?  The limited instructions show
everything lining up perfectly, but I can't
imagine that to be the case on too many
windows.

Thanks.

Should work fine. Just did an informal test
with a window/door sensor and a low power
ohmmeter. With the switch and magnet flat on
a surface and the arrows on the magnet and
the switch portion pointing at each other.
The switch was closed with the magnet about
1/2 to 1/3 of an inch from the switch part.
Was ok even if the magnet part was raised
slightly from the surface kind of like you
described.

Can I use the window/door sensors to
trigger a macro in CM15A or can I use it to
turn on a light?  Thanks

Brian H

I don't think the RF signals [have a
security code I believe] will trigger the
cm15a directly. Maybe a the security lamp
that can be flashed X10 line signal can when
it is read by the cm15a. I hope someone with
more data can give a better thought.
