Ok, I have a pet door that I want to secure.
Can I use a window sensor & ultilize a power
horn siren "if" I do not have the security
console? I have X 10 modules,
transcievers,camera's, & Active Home Pro &
use ADT for Security as well. I am thinking
that I can rig the window/door sensor onto
the pet door at night so no one can come
thru it without the siren going off? Am I
right? Thx in advance...

Brian H

I don't think a Window/Door sensor sends a
standard X10 signal to the tranceiver that
can be passed on to the powerhorn. Another
problem is the powerhorn. A simple On signal
will not trigger it. It has the see a series
on ON-OFF signals on the house/unit code it
is set to, to be triggered. You maybe able
to use a powerflasher module with a magnetic
switch to trigger the powerhorn. You would
have to set the powerflasher to send a
continous ON-OFF cycle as long as the switch
is closed. The magnetic switch would have to
close when the magnet is moved away from the
switch.

Ok so it would probably be best then to
purchase the monitoring system to use the
door sensor at night? What do you think?

Brian H

Well it would work. If you don't have power
near the door; the sensors are battery
operated; so that maybe an advantage. Guess
it is a cost versus use thing and the extra
stuff in the kit maybe useful in a future
application.

Thanks Brian,
I need to do something b/c that's my one
security breach I have. ADT works thru the
telephone lines, so if its cut it wouldn't
help much. At least the X10 monitoring could
be used as a back up system though.
