I would like to replace my ds7000 with a RS
49-1000.  Will the RS49-1000 work with the
DS10A door/window sensor and the MS10A
motion sensor?  Will it work with the SH624
Remote Control and the KR10A Key Chain
Remote?

You may want to look at the posts from
Brandon and Jeff, in this forum. I know that
we where doing tests between the DS7000 and
the RS 49-1000. I have both and may have
tested between them for modules that work.
Powerhorn Sirens will not work with the 49-
1000; due to the different way the 49-1000
sends out the scurity lamp flashing codes.
The RS site has the manuals if you want to
download them and the FCC web site has data
on them also.

I did a quick test so take it at face value.
My 49-1000 learned the DS10A and seemed to
function correctly with it. KR10A also was
learned and seems to function correctly.
SH624 partial tested the security stuff
seemed to work didn't test lights on and off
functions. Can't say about the MS10A didn't
try it. As mentioned in the other threads
Jeff has both and is using them. I have not
installed mine yet; just like electronic
tinkering and testing. Note the FCC ID#s on
the 49-1000 are issued to X10 Wireless Inc.
Also not marked but on the RS Kaychain
Remote pushing both Arm and Diasrm will
trigger a Panic Alarm.

I bought the RS 49-1000 and gave it a try.
It works with the DS10A, SH624 and KR10A
without a problem.  Didn't try the MS10A.

However, I couldn't get it to turn the
lights on.  I have the X10 lamp modules
(LM465) and the X10 wall switches (WS467).
I tried the console and a module on the
same receptacle, changed house and unit
codes, but nothing.

The RS 49-1000 have plenty of features,
but if I can get it to work with my
modules, it's probably not for me.

The consoles handle the security codes
differently. The DS7000 when triggered sends
an All Lights ON and All Units OFF cycle
when triggered. That means that any lamp
module or wall switch on the security house
code will flash. Appliance modules if ON
will turn off and stay off. The RS unit has
two security codes. When triggered it sends
out [example B1 B2] a B1 B2 BON the a B1 B2
BOFF. Any lamp appliance; module or wall
switch on those two codes will cycle all
others will not. This is why I feel both
model powerhorns will not work with the RS
console.
I don't think the RS unit acts like a
tranceiver for the SH624 for standard RF
remote commands; as I can use my RR501 to
tranceive the normal ON OFF requests from it.

I think that the unit that I got is efective.
It doesn't send out the two codes.  At least
the Acivity Monitor of the ActiveHome
software didn't pick up anything.  I tried
sending those commands from the key chain
remote and directly from the console, but it
didn't work.

Not to mention that I have trouble making it
recognize its own key chain remote.  Arming
will not work consistently.  I thought that
it was the keychain, but I tried it with the
DS7000.  Ironically, I was able to set up the
DS7000 to recognize the RS 49-1000 key chain
remote without any trouble.

Another difference, The DS7000 acts like a
RF Remote Tranceiver for the house code it
is set to. I unpluged my RR501 on House Code
A and used the DS7000 to tranceive RF Remote
commands from my HR12A. Not sure if the 49-
1000 will tranceive remote codes. My give it
a try and reply with results later.

OK 49-1000 also tranceives all my remotes
set to the same House Code as the console.
You maybe correct on yours being bad.

A quick note:  x10's MS10 (motion) works
well with RS 49-1000.

I hope this is not off-topic.
I have an X10 system myself, but my brother
just installed the RS49-1000 security
system and has had so much trouble with the
motion sensors. When he first installed
them, they were communicating well with the
base console. Few days later, the console
started reporting "problem with zone...",
which apparently means there is no signal
coming from a specific motion sensor. The
problem is cleared when he presses the test
button behind each sensor (but he used new
batteries on all sensors). Worth noting is
that he is not experiencing this problem
with the door magnetic sensor, although
it's placed almost the same distance as
some of the motion sensors.

Any ideas? Is it simply a poor reception
problem? Is there a fix to this?
