DS7000 routinley chimes 5 times for no reason?
« on: February 28, 2005, 07:30:58 AM »

I have one door/window sensor with a ds7000
system. It chimes maybe once every hour or
so exactly 5 times then stops. I was told it
coulod be low batteries in the sensor,
however, I installed fresh bateeries
verified at 1.5vdc with a DMM. It still
chimes 5 times in succession intermittanlty.
Any fix for this and reason?

I have also noticed the same problem, but I
think it is when the DS7000 thinks it lost
the sensor (I removed a battery once on the
door sensor and this occurred after I put
it back in).  Try resetting the 'random
security code' using the "test" button,
and 're-installing' the unit to the
console - this seemed to work for me.

I've got 3 motion sensors and 8 door/window
sensors any way of determining which sensor
is reporting the problem?  My unit only
started doing this 5 chimes thing today and
it is starting to get really annoying.  If
I have to go throug the entire process of
resetting the entire console I will but I
want to make sure this resolves my
problem.  My biggest question is why did
this just start happening now?  Could it be
due to the fact that I leave my front door
open most of the day to allow ventalation?

Thanks,

John

Mine started doing same the other night.  Did a full "reset" of
the system which cured it.  No idea what caused it though...

I've been having this same issue for about
a month. I took the entire unit offline for
a while and just reconnected it this
evening. I installed fresh batteries in
both of the sensors that I'm using and
still, it chimes. I'm about ready to give
up.

john
it shoud be showing a flashing light on the
console. you have to trouble shoot which it
is. i had the same issue and it was a door
sensor and the contact was to far apart.
you can try just hit the test button on the
sensor that may reset it also.
and if you leave your door opened to long it
will lose contact and may create this issue.

I have a door sensor on service door of my
shop. When the weather is nice, I leave the
door open all day. I've never had a problem
with the sensor NOT communicating with the
base. Recently though I've been getting
false dialing after the alarm is armed. No
bells and whistles going off, just a call at
11:30 pm or later.
