I halve a XPS3-IW powering 4 15w CFL out
door lamps. Last night I installed it and
they seemed to respond correctly to the
EagleEye motion detector set to turn on/off
the lights at dusk/dawn and remote controls
too. This morning the lights did not shut
off. Ok could have been because it was  a
cloudy day. Now to night the lights came on
at dusk BUT I try to use my remote to turn
off the lights and it will not respond.
I toggle the light at the switch and the
light turns off.
1. I use the remote the light will turn back
on.
2. I use the remote but the lights will not
shut off.
3. I place the EagleEye in the dark lights
turn on
4. I place the EagleEye in the light the
light will not shut off

The remote I am using is from my DS7000
alarm system. Last night everything seemed
to work properly.

Thanks Corey

Some brand CFLs generate enough powerline
noise in the 120Khz area where X10s signals
are. To allow trhm to be turned ON but when
ON the noise kills the X10 signals and they
do not turn back off. I had one brand CFL on
some inside fixtures that did this. They
where from TCP under the brand name
Durabright. I did some unofficial tests with
a scope and a X10 Line Coupler to isolate
the X10 signals from the powerline. I found
a few different noise levels as I changed
brands of CFLs. Also found out why my lights
maybe 1/2 of 1% fail to respond. When my
furnace turns ON; the first 30 seconds has
the electronic ignition on. It blew the X10
signals right out of the water.

After posting this I was out on the web
looking at signal amps and couplers. Read
somewhere to turn on my Electric oven to
couple the phases together. Funny thing is
trouble went away. I must have been baking a
pizza the other night. I was at Radio Shack
yesterday looking for a cap to install
across the 220 in my panel. They didn't have
one though. I have to work tomorrow and we
have a lot of odd stuff there. Maybe able to
fall upon one. I also moved my base station
closer to the front lights. I think I was
even on the same breaker. The Electricians
who marked the panel was not real clear on
what every breaker powered. But when I moved
it even with the oven off the lights worked.
Most likely for now I will just move my bed
room from the A phase to a B phase location
in the panel. Seem if a person just plans
out the breaker assignment in their panel
you could get away form installing a phase
coupler buy putting all X10 stuff on the
same phase.
