More Monitored House Codes
« on: January 30, 2005, 10:31:48 AM »

One monitored house code is simply not
going to be adequate for anyone with more
than a few modules.  Please, please, please
add more monitored house codes.  A-P would
be really nice!

David, I am not sure if I really have an
understanding of "Monitored" house codes...
I have approx 20 modules and an X10 security
system.  I run all modules on "House" codes
B,C and D.  I have AHP (3.177) set up using
Monitored House Code as "A" and Transeived
House codes as B,C AND  D.  I have no
problems with the CM15A , timers or modules.
I am just not sure of a good definition of
the terms Monitored House Code and Transeived
House Codes.  Maybe we have some fluent users
with a great nack of enlightening me.
regards,
Steve

the "Monitored Housecode" is the housecode
that the CM15A will keep track of the status
of all modules and then report back to the
software the status when hooked back up to
the running software.  When the computer is
hooked up to the CM15A running 24/7 AHP, the
software seems to keep track of all module
status, however, if trying to use module
status as conditionals using the smart macro
plug in, then you are only allowed to use
Modules on the "Monitored Housecode"
regardless of whether the AHP is running 24/7
with the computer or not.

Transcieved Housecodes are those that the
CM15A   recieve antenna will take RF commands
from and pass directly to the powerline, thus
acting like an RR501 or TM751 for that
particular housecode.  I belive it shows up
in the Activity Monitor like this:

Recieve RF COMMAND (command recieved via RF
and sent to the powerline)
Recieve COMMAND (it sees the command it just
put out on the powerine and reports it as
powerline recieved)

SteveL,
Thanks..I think I get the idea now... Not
sure how useful that may be because of
reliability issues.  Most of my modules are
not 2-way and cannot report status back to
the CM15A but I see your point about
recording the fact that a status was
issued...now whether or not the modules
actually acted on the command is something
else... masny thanks.. I am thinking about
changing Monitored House Code to "B" iun my
case..see way below...most of my modules are
on "B"...Nothing is on "A" that I know
of...not sure about the X10 security system.
Many Thanks for your insight !
Regards,
Steve

I'm glad someone does understand the
purpose of monitored housecodes.  One
problem is if you have macros on M house
code and you set your monitored house code
to other than M, the macros so not seem to
work from RF signals issued from remotes if
not plugged into the PC.  Maybe my CM15A is
not working correctly, but hopefully it is
all software problems.  That is a feature
that I need, I cannot speak for others.
Hopefully, I will not be a big issue for
X10 to maybe at least add the option for
multiple house codes similar to the trans
house codes.

Is this true with 2-way modules?  In that
case the smart macro could pole the device.

An alternative to allowing the user to
specify which house code(s) to monitor is
to monitor only units who’s status is used
as a conditional in smart macros.  I can’t
think of any other reasons to monitor the
status of a module when not connected to
the PC.
