Link to Firecracker Software
« on: January 26, 2005, 12:03:12 PM »

It would be nice if there were a link to
the Firecracker software so that it would
copy the names of modules and macros from
the ActiveHome Pro software.  Even better
would be if ActiveHome Pro would use the
CM17a for manual control when the CM15a is
not connected to the computer (macros and
Timers should only be done by the CM15a
though).  Conversely the Firecracker
software could use the CM15a when it is
connected to the computer.

I agree.  That would be a nice feature to
have for many reasons, espesially since it
seems to be impossible to get everything to
work with the CM15A plugged into the
computer (relocated to get all modules to
work).   Great idea!

I have found that the Firecracker device
will use the USB interface instead of a com
port with the latest software downloads of
Firecracker and AHP 3.179.  You also can
remove the Firecracker device and the
Firecracker software will still work using
the USB interface if connected.  Switch the
settings in the Firecracker software to
AUTOMATIC in the setup.

This is working just fine for me.

David K:  I gave it a try and it works,
sort of.  The firecracker software can use
the CM15a to generate RF commands.
However, it doesn’t seem to transceiver its
own commands, so it isn’t of much use
unless you have a separate transceiver.  It
would be nice if you could use the software
to generate power line commands directly.

Roger: All the Firecracker ever did was
generate X10 RF commands....  I look at it
like I can now move the Firecracker to
another computer and use the Palmpad
software on both, free.  I happy about this
item anyway.

By the way I use a V572 for a whole house
(yard and driveway) reciever, that is why
it works...
