RF FROM SWITCH ICONS
« on: April 14, 2005, 08:26:59 PM »

X10,

It would be nice to be able to send RF
commands directly from the switch icons
without the need to create a macro.

Why? Your switches won't be able to respond
to the signal unless it's placed on the
powerline.

Donald,

I have one area in the house that I am
unable to get a signal to over the power
lines. I have found the simplest thing to do
is to send an RF signal to a  transceiver
module plugged in near the offending area.
This has worked fine for me for years using
a palm pad remote. I would like to be able
to do the same thing using AHP without
having to use a macro to send an RF signal.

Before someone ask, Yes I do have phase
coupling installed.

Couldn't you put everything on one house
code and setup the transceiver on that
house code. In AHP define the transceiver
on that house code and make sure that AHP
Hardware Configuration does not have that
house code setor "Auto" set. It should act
like a bridge with the CM15A and your
transceiver. Alll of your commands will be
sent through RF even though they are
defined as PLC commands. You wouldn't have
to use a macro to translate between PLC and
RF commands for those modules.

Donald,

Thanks for the idea. Actually setting up a
transceiver module, in AHP, to the house
and unit code of the module I want to
control works fine. Don’t know why I never
saw the transceiver module in AHP before.

Donald:  Only unit number 1 on that house
code will be sent via RF in this
configuration since the TM751 doesn’t
respond to powerline commands.  All other
commands on that house code will still be
sent as powerline commands.
