X10 HELP
« on: March 16, 2006, 11:57:14 PM »

[/b]I recently purchased a house with a pool. The pool has fiber optic lights. The light were controlled by X10. The previous home owner only left me an X10-RT504 remote. What do I need to turn on the lights? A receiver? module? HELP![/b]

The TR504 is a remote as you said. Are there any other X10 modules plugged in to the wall with an antenna to receive the remotes commands? A TM751 is the transceiver sold now by X10, The TR504 instructions refer to the RR501 as the remote it used. TM751 should be fine. Now are the pool lights wired into an X10 module or do they have a AC Plug on them and no module connected. If so the best module would be the Appliance Module by X10 as it doesn't dim and can do low voltage transformer run lights. I am guessing the LED are on a low voltage power supply or transformer.

The lights appear to be hard wired. No module.

The owner may have removed the X10 Receiving module when they left.
Two thoughts come to mind, others may have added information.
X10 makes a decorator wall switch WS14a that has a relay in it and can turn on and off an inductive load like the LEDs power unit.
X10Pro makes a XPFM Fixture Module that hard wires inside the fixture or a electrical box. It also has an on off relay in it. You would still need a transceiver to receive the remotes signals. Tabletop controllers could also be added if you want to control them from maybe a dresser top or table.
