Newbee fuse question
« on: March 27, 2006, 04:38:56 AM »

Hi

I read about the X-10 system today and I think it's really cool, but I have one question. I live in an apartment (in Sweden) and different rooms are connected to different fuses in a fuse box. My question regard if a device connected to one fuse can communicate with my computer that is connected to another fuse.

Are there some other things I should consider before I start ordering X-10 components?

The X10  signal should travel through circuits on different fuses. You may experience some problems if the X10 signal has to travel through different phases in the fuse box. Adding a phase coupler will usually solve this problem. If you do a search of these forums you will find information on phase couplers.

What is the value of the Line Voltage in Sweden? That may or may not impact on this.
The X10 signals will pass from circuit to circuit most times. If you have a split phase like here in the States. There could be a signal loss from phase to phase. Many times a coupler or repeater is needed.

Just for the record, US/Canada X10 equipment cannot be used in Europe, due to the voltage difference, as well as electric plug differences.

Try X10 Europe for your needs.
