TM751 sound?
« on: May 05, 2006, 12:00:53 AM »

When sending a signal to the tm751 there's a loud click that happens before it turns on or off a light.  Is this normal?  And if so, is there a silent tranceiver?  We have it in the bedroom and it's pretty jarring to use late at night-- and moving it far away pushes the envelope of its capability of consistently receiving the signal.

Thanks!

The TM751 has a built in appliance module and it is that relay you are hearing. If you are not using the outlet on the TM751 you could just not use unit code #1. This will not engage the relay on the TM751 but it will still send the other codes through the house wiring. If the load you want to control is a light you could use a lamp module. They do not make that load clicking sound when they are turned on and off.

If you're relatively good at working on electronics (soldering, following schematics and instructions and such) go to
http://www.idobartana.com/hakb/tm751_relay.htm

Go to http://www.idobartana.com/hakb/index.htm for lots of interesting modifications and automation ideas or if there is anything about the relay instructions that you don't understand (what the PIC is for example).

Good luck.

THANK YOU!

I love these things, and believe it or not, even though it's the 21st century and we have high power computers, etc, remotely controlling lights and appliances still has a WOW factor for my guests.
