CM15A Receives (Sends?) Continuous 'All Units Off'
« on: May 10, 2005, 10:54:26 PM »

I have a CM15A that sporadically begins to
receive bursts of 'House Code N - All Units
Off' - I have a CM11A that I use to monitor
activity and it sees them as well.  The
thing is that when I unplug the CM15A and
plug it back in, the 'House Code N - All
Units off' activity stops.  I do have a
SmartHome 4826 phase coupler in the house.
Any suggestions?

I've had pretty much the same issue for months now, except it is with House Code M.  Have you heard anything or figured anything out as to what is causing this or how to fix?  Mine does it randomly when I'm running AHPro, or it will do start doing it as soon as I launch AHPro after not running it for a while.   :-

The main problem is, it locks up the CM15A with this random non-stop loop of "Housecode M - All Units Off" and nothing else will work until that loops stops after unplugging the power and plugging back in.

I am also seeing random "Macro M" and such from time to time.  The interesting thing is, I'm only using House Code C and D for my modules and macros, nothing else.  Where is this House Code M coming from?  ???

Does Find Other Computers show Housecode M as yellow? That could mean you have an X10 user on the same transformer as your house.

Your problems are new to the Forums. I've never seen an interface (CM11A or CM15A) do what you have described, unless you have some odd type of X10 equipment on M.

I had a simular problem with my original unit (have a diagnostic unit now) I have no problems like this anymore so it may be bad units.
Go into hardware configuration and set the transcieved housecodes so the problem housecode is not transcieving, also move any modules that are on that code to another housecode. That fixed my problem before I got the newer CM15A.
Also If you have other transcievers in your setup make sure that the housecode for them as well are not set to transcieve (I think that was my error as I had an old tm751 that I'd forgoten about in the system).
jims1 have you tried disconecting your phasecoupler (I don't usualy suggest this) but since you have both the CM15A and the Cm11A you could have one on each phase.

The ransceived Housecode is already set to only D and the momitored house code is C.  No others are active.  I'm also currently not using any other transceivers.  One thing I see in common here with "jims1" is that I too have a phase coupler, though I doubt that is the cause.  I also have a "Smart Repeater" which is set to code A, BUT this continuous and none stop "Housecode M - All Units Off" seems to occur mostly when I first launch ActiveHome after not using for a while and makes everything stop working/responding until I unplug the CM15A from power and plug back in.

The only time my X10 setup seems to work well is when the ActiveHomePro software is NOT running, so I normally just download all to the unit and close ActiveHomePro.  The problem is, there are certain functions that need to be run from the software, such as video recording (which in itself is another issue), etc.

I also noticed yesterday as I was playing with ActiveHomePro and really watching the activity monitor, there are way more stray codes than originally thought.  Not just the M - All Units Off, but M and other codes as well.  (I don't have any macros using Housecodes other than D or C) but I get some such as:

Macro        E All Lights Off
Macro        F1 Extended Code ffffffff ffffffff
Macro        F12"
Macro   M5
Macro   M7
Macro   M9
Macro   M14
Macro   M On
Macro   M13
Macro   M3
Macro   M Dim 4

But these are not as disabilitating as when I furst start up ActiveHomePro and get:

Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off
Receive  House Code N - All Units Off

:-  Over and over and over again, freezing every X10 function until I unplug the CM15A from power and plug it back in.  I'm in a prretty rural area where the use of technology is minimal and don't know any neighbors using X-10.  The homes are also not very close together, so I can't figure for the life of me the cause.  I will play with removing the phase coupler and x10 smart repeater over the weekend to see what happens, but if I remember correctly, I was running into this before adding them on anyway.  Again, the repeated "Receive  House Code N - All Units Off" only happens when I first start up ActiveHome Pro.. ???

Gee, thanks X10 for your help.  The problem continues and I just love and enjoy it!  Even after this latest upgrade to the software.  I just loooove X10 and live to see it's numerous daily problems..  It is such a joy to deal with.    ;D

X10inGA: have you tried disconnecting the repeater?,looking for noisy devices?,moving the CM15As location? Something is putting that on the powerline! Updates will not fix an external problem! ;) :D Since AHPs activity monitor states it is recieving this look else where other than the software not sure? Try a different software for the CM15A!

We have seen others report strange line saturations with signals with the CM15A and some repeaters. One of the Levitons was mentioned. HCA02 [maybe]
