Hello,

I am a developer and home automation designer and it seems that X10 is forcing the Open Source community to move away from their devices due to the lack of co-operation (as promised) to release the technical specification for the CM15A device. It is disappointing, and important for many of us to still remain loyal customers if we are encountering difficulty building a fully supported kernel driver (for Linux such as http://www.linuxha.com/athome/common/cm15d/cm15d.html) to control and build software for home automation.

Can someone from X10 please shed some light why we are encountering such promises but no results?

Thank You,
-Shaffin.

Hello All,

I am Xmas shopping for my Linux savvy friends and family, and want to pick the latest/best hardware.

There seem to be many more options this year in Home Automation - and a lot of fun for us to have.
Id like to stick with best of breed, which had been X10 historically.

As well, I am a stanch Linuxer with 3 options:

1) Cm11 - Old but works, sorta. (less desirable)

2) CM15A - As interface guidance is not forthcoming, I would expect this would entitle me
to debugging/hacking everyones box that I give one to.  If CM15A interface specs were even
available, this would be a no-brainer.

3) Is there another vendor that has more thoughtful understanding of the Open Source users.

X10, please take some ownership of this opportunity, and support Linux users, or provide some
means for us to use your products.

Thanks!

X10West see this link for further details: Developments on the Linux front.

Woody and myself hacked the CM15A last year but my book kept me busy until now. I wasn't going to really do much with the CM15A but I have need of it with Mr. House. Check out the list to see what's going on. I can answer 2 and 3 but not on this board. ;-)
