Author Topic: "Error 26" when trying to install ActiveHome Pro and other software  (Read 24460 times)

I get an "error 26" "can't communicate with network server" when trying to install the programs. I have tried everything I know of to get it to work (disabling firewall, etc.) to no avail. I called the help desk daily over the past 5 days and they initially said their server was down. I believe that it is something on my end. Can anyone please help me with this as I just spent $100 for a suite of programs that I can't use!! ???

This is another indication that X10 need to go back to what was done in Active Home. If you bought it, you got a CD of the software along with your CM11A interface.

The links you got are "stubs" that has to go to the X10 server to download the full software.

If you cannot get the software you paid for, PM Mike Mallari here with your problem.  He should be able to help you directly or point you to someone at X10 USA who can solve your problem.

Are you behide a router? ??? You may need to enable port forwarding or connect directly to the internet (by passing the router) ;)

Probably NOT the router - I'd guess that it's either X10's Server or a FIREWALL setting


You could also try going to: Secure Software Download Link

and see if you get a different STUB LINK from the one you received in your E-Mail.  :-\

Thanks for the input. I requested yet another download link just now and will try yet again to get the programs installed tonight. In the past I did disable all firewalls and shut down all anti-virus software. Even though evey time I call customer service and they tell me that the problem is on their end I really believe that it is on my end. You would think that there would be an easy solution. I searched for "error 26" on Google and some websites came up with pretty extensive "fixes". If I still can't get it installed tonight I will take your advice and contact Mike.

Thanks again! If anyone else has any input it would be greatly appreciated!!
