I have 24 modules, 34 macro's and 25 timers running on AHP with smart macros and onalert. A newly installed RS 49-1000, and a dozen remotes. I just checked the status of everything, activity log and everything is working? So now what do I do? Its been fun up to this point!

KDR :  You could start playing with some of the thirdparty addon software. They'll add even more to your home automation, and you won't need to change your existing setup! unless you wish! Only the PC needs to stay on to run these but since your runnning the OnAlert plugin thats not a problem!

Well I was thinking of using a universal module to control the flow of single atoms for my new particle beam transmitter. Simply put you impress single atoms into a beam of light that is channeled through a mercury ion accelerator. Once the steam is accelerated to the speed of light squared all the mass impressed into the beam of light can pass through space, slowed back down on the other end, then separated and reassembled.

I can get the universal module from X10 but the rest of the stuff is tuff to find.

I do however have some ideas on some X10 related stuff that I hope to find time over this winter to develop.

As a suggestion. Why don't you come up with something for Halloween using X10 ?

Since this is my first X-10 Halloween, I'd like to put those front motion sensors to a different use for a night.
I did a search on Halloween and only found 7 hits (including the one above) with only one real idea.

Do any of the long time users have any ideas or suggestions that they have done in the past?
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm curious to how fast a macro can make lights turn on & off in a lightning kind of way...

X10 signalling is painfully slow. Much too slow to simulate lightning. You could try using a UM506 "Universal Module" in the momentary mode, or modifying an appliance module for momentary contact(http://www.idobartana.com/hakb/Modifying_Appliance_module.htm) to drive a disco strobe light.

The modified appliance or the Universal will provide just about 1 second of power to strobe, which might look like flickering lightning.

Lightning is difficult to simulate.

I kind of suspected the lightning thing might be to slow to use normal house lights.
Maybe a constant loop of dimming and brightening of different lights might give an eerie look!?
Guess I have a new project to work on this weekend 

One good thing, the wife is all over putting this automation stuff to (ahem) "practical use".

How about having the lights go on a dim pattern then sit out front with a set of old jumper cables. When the lights start to dim touch the ends together to give the effect that the lights dim because of the shorting of the cables. Might make a few think something shocking is going on.

Good Afternoon,

Now that you are in great shape, why not design something simple that will monitor the power line and report back in RS232 all the commands that are passing back and forth and there signal level.  By the time you get that done something will cause something to misbehave.  Could be that new widget you are going to get!
