ss13A slimline switch to control alarm
« on: October 19, 2006, 05:00:58 PM »

I want to use the SS13A to arm and disarm the alarm. Is there any way to do this? I got it to arm using a macro but there doesnt seem to be a option for disarm. Is there a work around for this?

There is not a way to do this as yet! If it was possible then you could remotely disarm your system (over the Net) which would make it less secure! ;)

It would make allot more sense to give us that choice.

True!
But how many people read the small print or the manuals? (Not that ON Alert has a Manual ::))

If someone is going to go through the effort of hacking my computer to break into my house, they would find another way in anyways.  For me PERSONALLY, this system is intended  to deter the common theives from breaking in when they have nothing else to do (to get booze and money and whatever else).  For the more sophisticated theif who is willing to figure out how to cut my power line, cut my phone line, hack my security system, I really don't expect a $150 system to protect against them.

PLEASE, give us the option and put a nice big warning popup window  (perhaps borrowing Tuiceman's colorful and very helpful way of posting  ;)).

This functionality would really make x10 a better fit in my home, and make me a much happier customer!
