Are you using a wired, or a wireless connection?

Typically, if using a wireless connection, this is interference from another RF source. ie: wireless phone, or wireless network.

nick41 :

As tjdavj   stated it could be noise! Do an Advanced Search for "RF noise"

It will bring up lots of possible sources as well as workarounds and or cures! ;) :D ;D

Also try moving you antennas so they're pointing directly at each !

It will take some playing arround (and lots of reading) but you'll get the interferance figured out! ;)

Also check the X10 Knowledge base under wireless cams as well as under video senders for additional info! ;)

You still haven't told us if you using a wired or wireless system! Kinda hard to offer answers when you don't provide us with relevant information!

Oh, so you live in an apartment.. Hope you are on good terms with your neighbors, as anyone of them could have the equipment that is causing the interference.

Hi Nick,

I just installed my camera system and ran into to problems also.  I finally have all the drivers install and every shows as x10 in Device Manager.

But still no video!  What did you do to get yours going?

Ok, do not forget to try the different positions (A, B, C & D) on the video receive.  I had move it to C and that was very bad.  Position A is the best.

Much happier.  Now I can do some real adjusting.

Any suggestion on improving reception?

Could you give us a little more info? What cam are you using and if wireless what receiver?

I posted about the same time you did.... glad you got a picture now. Happy tuning.

Hi KDR,

I still can not get a picture on the computer.

Audio/Video Receiver (Mono) VR31A
USB Video Adapter (VA11A)

Thanks.

Ok, I noticed the frequency slider in iWitness and lowered to 1 fps and then 5 fps and now I can see a very poor quality picture on the computer.

Well, I will be sending these back.  I can get an acceptable picture when the camera a receiver have line of sight to each other and the camera in with anything in the way is iffy at best.  The cost/benefit does not add up.  Thank goodness for the 30 day guarantee.

How well do the "Wired" cameras work?

One thing you need to watch for is cordless phones and wireless networks. They will add noise to your picture. If you have them you could try turning them off to see if that helps. I have 6 wired cams and one wireless. The location of the wireless is such that I don't have a problem with it. The other 6 cams are all working good. I went with wired cams because of the phone and network interference issues.
